# How it fits

With LanternWP Companion, the product page can say how a product fits, and show what reviewers say about the fit. A table of measurements beside the sizes is a guide: see [Size and option guides](guides.md).

## Say how a product fits

1. Go to **Products** and edit the product.
2. Under **Product data**, open **How it fits**.
3. Fill in **The cut**, such as "Relaxed through the body; size down for a closer fit.", and the model's height in centimeters, the size the model wears and, if you like, a **Note on the size**, such as "one size down".
4. Select **Update**.

The page shows "How it fits" with your sentence and "Model is 175 cm and wears S, one size down"; a store whose unit of dimensions is inches (**WooCommerce → Settings → Products**) shows the height in feet and inches too, "5′9″ (175 cm)". On a product with options it stands under the options, on a product without them before the stock and **Add to cart**. Leave the fields empty to show nothing.

In the Site Editor, Companion's **How It Fits** block stands in WooCommerce's **Variable Product Add to Cart + Options** and **Simple Product Add to Cart + Options** template parts (**Appearance → Editor → Patterns**). There it shows a sample, so you can see where it stands and move it like any block. The sample is a made-up cut and model. To show it on no product, turn off the switch in the **How it fits** row of **Appearance → LanternWP → Features** and select **Save**: Companion then places the block nowhere, and a block saved in a template shows nothing in the store. If you deleted the block from a part, the row says **Removed from templates**, and **Restore in templates** puts it back after you confirm.

## Ask reviewers how it fits

1. Go to **Products → Attributes** and select **Edit** under the attribute your products vary by, such as **Size** or **Shoe size**.
2. Check **Ask how it fits in reviews** and select **Update**. Do the same for every attribute whose products should be asked: a store with clothes and shoes checks both **Size** and **Shoe size**. A new attribute has the field too, under **Add new attribute**.
3. Go to **Appearance → LanternWP → Features**. The **Fit in reviews** row links to **Products → Attributes** too.
4. In the **Fit in reviews** row, turn the switch on and select **Save**.

The review form of each product with a checked attribute then asks "How does it fit?": runs small, true to size or runs large, optional. A product with two checked attributes is asked once. Other products are not asked, so a rug with a size is asked only when you check its attribute. Under the options, "How it fits" shows where the approved reviews' answers meet on a scale from **Runs small** to **Runs large**, and how many reviews answered. A review's answer is kept with the review; deleting or unapproving the review takes it off the scale. Turn **Fit in reviews** off to stop asking and hide the scale; the answers stay with the reviews, and the checked attributes stay checked.

**Fit in reviews** is off until you turn it on. While it is off, **Ask how it fits in reviews** says so on the attribute, with a link to **Features**. If it is on and no attribute is checked, no review asks, and its row in **Features** shows **Needs setup** with a link to **Products → Attributes**.

## Show one reviewer's answer

To show reviews about fit on a page, such as the home page, insert the **Fit in Reviews** block: on a product page it shows the product's scale; in the block's settings, **Fit → Shows** sets one reviewer's answer, **Runs small**, **True to size** or **Runs large**, to show beside a quote; **The product’s reviews** shows the product's scale. The LanternWP home pattern **Reviews about fit** holds such quotes.

A demo import adds how each product fits and its reviews' answers. A demo whose reviews answer how a product fits also checks **Ask how it fits in reviews** on its size attribute and turns **Fit in reviews** on.
