Bring back a removed section

Applies to Theme 0.6.1 Updated 1 November 2026 View as Markdown

The product page, the shop and the posts are templates made of sections. You can remove a section you do not need in the Site Editor, and add it back later from the block inserter, without resetting the template.

Add a section back

  1. Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates and open the template the section belonged to (see the table below).
  2. Select Block Inserter (the plus at the top left) and open the Patterns tab.
  3. Open the section's category and select the section.
  4. Select Save.

With no block selected, the section goes to the end of the template's content. To move it, select it and use the arrows in its toolbar, or drag it in Document Overview.

Section Category Template
Related products Product page Single Product
Reviews Product page Single Product
Sticky add to cart bar Product page Single Product (more about the bar)
Filters Catalog Product Catalog, Product Search Results
Comments Post page Single Posts, Pages
Tags and post navigation Post page Single Posts
More from the journal Post page Single Posts

These categories show only while you edit a template, not in posts or pages. The inserter offers each section in every template, but a section shows on the store only where it belongs: reviews and related products on a product's page, the filters on the shop, category and product search pages, the tags and post navigation on a post.

A template you saved keeps what you saved

Once you save a template in the Site Editor, it keeps the sections as they were that day. A new version of the theme changes the theme's own template, not yours: a section you added back comes in its current version, but the sections you kept do not change with updates.

Some sections are built for each page, so they stay current in a template you saved: Search: header (the search, its number of results and the views), Catalog header (the category chips), the showcase of Product catalog as a showcase (a section for each category), the top of the order confirmation page (the icon and "What happens next" for the order's status), and on the product page Related products (the product's cross-sells as "Frequently bought together") and Reviews ("No reviews yet." until the product has some). In the Site Editor they are captioned Filled in from the store and locked for editing: what is inside them would not show on the store; a background or spacing you set on the whole section does. In the shop's Filters, an attribute you add to the store later gets its filter at the end of the list.

Reset in the template's actions returns the whole template to the theme's current one. Every other change you made to it goes with it, and after a demo import that set its own design, such as Kilowatt's buy panel on the product page, the template goes back to the theme's default design.
